Summer holiday in Greece – your best buys

A new generation of Greek designers and brands have been inspired by summers past and come up with gorgeous holiday essentials. When my friends ask me what to buy while vacationing in Greece here is what I suggest:

The Bikini: Sophie Deloudi

Sophie Deloudi’s swimsuits remind me of the long, relaxed summers of my childhood. They take familiar Greek summer themes and update them for the 21st century. They also come with a fantastic, very elegant black waterproof little bag so that you can take them off after swimming and carry them in your beach bag without getting everything else wet, sandy and salty.

The Towel: Sun of a Beach

These beach towels are gorgeous and made of 100% Egyptian cotton. New, stunning designs are added every year and the brand now also offers beach bags and other accessories. They also have a great kids collection!  https://sunofabeach.com/

The Bag: Salty Bag

Greeks love the sea and have been living and working with it for thousands of years. The Aegean and Ionian Seas are crisscrossed by countless yachts and cruisers and the country has tens of marinas. Then, in 2013, group of Greek sailors decided to ensure sailing is more eco-friendly by reusing sails to make gorgeous bags. They are beautiful, durable, fashionable and will last you a lifetime! https://saltybag.com/

The Sun Screen: Apivita

Look through any Greek mom’s handbag and you’ll find a tube of Apivita Sunscreen. They are mad of mostly natural materials, are beautifully packaged, affordable and easy to find. Look out for offers in pharmacies – they often will give you an after-sun product for free with your sunscreen!  www.apivita.com

The Dress: Zeus + Dione

Zeus and Dione’s minimally elegant clothes are based on aspect of Greek culture from antiquity to the present. They are handmade and the textiles used for the pieces are custom-made by local artisans using traditional techniques with a contemporary edge. This is the stuff Greek women dream of. https://www.zeusndione.com/
